We're going to have a baby...

So, this isn't the kind of thing you usually announce in a blog, but we're so excited that we just couldn't wait!

We're going to have a baby--a baby grand piano! James and his moving crew will be going to pick it up tonight.

This piano was offered on freecycle.org. A dear friend, Becky, responded about it right away, and then realized that she didn't have anywhere to put a baby grand. She immediately thought of us. We've always wanted to have a baby grand some day, but we didn't know if this was our day to have our dreams come true.

I was skeptical about any piano being offered for free. Usually things that sound too good to be true are. I was expecting a cracked sounding board or something like that.

James, Jansen, and Janessa were not skeptical; they were 100 % behind it from the beginning.

Then the story changed. Suddenly the owner decided that she was crazy to offer it for free. So, she set a price that was too high for us to consider. We were going to back out completely, but Jansen was really set on getting this piano. Jansen said he'd put $300.00 towards it if we'd match that. We told Jansen we would, and that he could have it when he got a home of his own. We made our offer, sure that she'd get better offers. She did get other offers, but fortunately for us, she'd really bonded with Becky at this time, and felt like she wanted us to have the piano, despite our low offer.

We went to the house to see the piano on Saturday. It's cute and in good shape, albeit horribly out of tune. We made a deposit, and James, Jansen, and two men from the ward will pick it up and move it (in our van) tonight!

So excited! Sooo sooo excited!
