How to Move a Baby Grand Piano

It ends up that you can find out how to do pretty much anything on the internet. Our kitchen remodel is the perfect example of this. James will read a few DIY entries, watch a few Youtube videos, and next thing you know, he is running all of the electrical for the new kitchen. Or breaking up a cast iron tub with a sledgehammer.
James found step by step instructions on how to move a baby grand piano.
Our friend, Becky, who found this piano in the first place showed up for the move to take these very pictures. (I was at home because we had to take all of the seats out of the van in order to get the piano in).
Deconstruction
Wrap that baby in blankets.
James built a sled for the piano to get moved on, and then made tracks of 2x4's from the house to the car for it slide on.
Tricky spot right here. Although the van is wide enough for the piano to lay down in, the door openings aren't wide enough to put it in flat. And the height of the van isn't wide enough to put it in vertically. And any time you try to tip it, it sways scarily.

Whew! Success!
Don't ask me what Logan is doing under there. I have no idea.
Notice the dent on the van? That happened when my vampire boyfriend saved my life when a truck tried to hit me. Strong, huh!
They (Jansen and James) were too tired to move it into the house that night. That happened the subsequent night with 3 other men friends. Stay tuned for those pics.
Thank you thank you to all of the friends who helped move and carry this thing!

Congratulations! She is absolutely beautiful. What have you chosen to name her (or is it a he)?

Whenever they have moved our piano, I couldn't watch...it makes me so nervous. Somehow seeing your step-by-step photos wasn't as nerve racking.
