Our many spring concerts were kicked off by the Needham High School assorted choruses and chorales. Here is Jansen in his tux (handsome, huh!) for the chorale. You can listen to some of his pieces on youtube by clicking on Africa, Beati Quorum Vita, or Jericho. Apologies for cutting off the end of Africa.
I have to say that they were sooooo good! They were remarkable! Jansen sang in the chorale which is the audition, select choir at the high school. He also sang with the chorus. Both are after school choruses.

The next night was the spring concert at the Elementary School. Here is J.B. with his viola, playing with the rest of the 3rd grade strings. They are coming along. It's just really hard to make young strings sound good. J.B. plans to add a band intrument next year in 4th grade and to do both band and orchestra throughout the rest of his elementary career.

The 3rd grade orchestra was followed by the 5th grade band. I put a label over Logan's head. he plays the trumpet, REALLY well, I might add.

And the band was followed by the 5th grade chorus. Also quite good. Logan doesn't like chorus as much as band; you might get that impression from his expression.
Logan and J.B. at the end of their spring concert, pose for pictures!
The next week, Logan performs with the honors band (they are made up of all the top 5th grade players from the 5 elementary schools in our town). These guys were REALLY good. They sounded better than my junior high band ever did!

Logan said that he'd like to learn to play every instrument. He has a midas touch when it comes to music; any instrument he picks up, he is naturally really good at. So far he's played the piano, trumpet, acoustic guitar and electric bass guitar. He's trying to decide what other instruments to take lessons on this summer.
