American Idol Party

Here are a few photos from our American Idol Party we had for the last performance show of the season. The balloon we had purchased flew out the door and into the sky!

I asked all of the attendees to bring a food that represented a contestant, a judge, or Ryan. Here were some of the offerings:

• A giant brownie/cookie with Kris and Adam's names
• J.B. chose chocolate covered pretzels to represent Paula. He said, "Paula is really kind of plain, like a pretzel, but she wears very fancy gowns, like chocolate."
• I hope Kris doesn't choke, "Artichoke Dip."
• Salsa and chips for Alison
• Chocolate Covered Strawberries for Kara, because she's classy (or at least we thought she was before she wrote that horrid song!)
• Peanut butter cookies
• Popcorn
• Lots and lots of peanut and peanut butter m&ms.
• American Idol microphone cupcakes (Janessa's brainchild).

Kerry and Nancy. Kerry was mortified when he realized that all of the other attendees were women. He pretended like he'd just come to see our house reconstruction. Of course, James and my 5 boys were there too, so there were other guys.

A close up on our American Idol "microphones." We cooked cupcakes in these ice cream cones, and then frosted them with chocolate ganache.

Our allegiances were pretty evenly split between Adam and Kris, but we all managed to be pretty civil with each other.

I text voted hundreds of times until I fell asleep. Jansen figured out how to vote multiple times with one text, and he voted for Kris 400 times, just to tease us, since everyone else in our family were huge Adam fans.

The next night was NOT a happy night at the McQuivey household when Adam lost. Jansen videotaped my reaction and threatened to post it on facebook. He was really enjoying himself.

Soren has been the most invested in American Idol of any of the kids in our family. He has bought every Adam song on itunes and has them all memorized.

After this episode of American Idol was the premiere of Glee. I found this gum at Trader Joes for us to enjoy during Glee. I thought the premiere was hilarious; can't wait for the next episodes (I think they come out in the fall.)
