Make Way For Ducklings--Boys Book Club

One day, our young friend, Andrew asked his mom why she always got to go to book group with her friends and eat and have fun.  He wanted to do the same thing.  And voila, the Boys Book Club was born.
Ashley, the mom of Andrew hosted Boys Book Club the first month.  They did "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak.
We took the reigns following month and highlighted games and food and discussion around the theme of  "Make Way For Ducklings."
Most of the boys read the book at home before the book group.  Stewart brought a copy along with him.
We ran relay races wearing swimming flippers, and required that the participants...

eat a gummy worm at the end.

We balanced rubber ducks on our heads and walked around the house.  Well, the idea was to do it without help from our hands.  As you can see from this picture, it was hard to carry off.

For dinner we had "worms on a bun" and Quackeroni and Cheese.
The boys each created their own "ducky dessert" by using scoops of sherbet, Orange gumdrops shaped like Orange slices and chocolate chips.

Each of the boys also brought a favorite book from home to share with the rest of the group.  We had 10 boys attend our book club, between the ages of 3 to 8.  Here are a few of our participants.

What a lot of fun ideas! And what a good idea to encourage boys to read by giving them their own book club!

I loved this book club for kids. We all love our book club, it's good to get the boys in on the fun.
