Janessa's Semi-Formal Dance (and Dress Makeover)

I posted these photos on Facebook, but neglected to make it a part of our family's history by entering it in the blog.
Janessa and I found this great formal dress at T.J. Max for $39.99. Its regular price was several hundred dollars.
Our challenge: make it less formal and create a modest top.
Janessa's semi-formal dance was in January of 2010
The skirt had netting in it and it was fully lined so it was poofy and elegant. Janessa didn't want it to be a floor length skirt, though since her dance was only a semi-formal.
I was a little sad to cut off all of that extra skirt at the bottom.
I added some straps to the top, took in the back and the sides and added a shrug. We found these cute shoes on-line.
The back. We fixed the sash after this picture. It looks a bit long.
Janessa's let Moi do her makeup and updo. Her jewelry is from Santa Fe, New Mexico!
Janessa and her friends, Emily, Tamar, and Sasha.
Cutie girl off to a cutie dance!

Great make over! I am glad I have 12 more years until this dance thing. Maybe by then I will have gotten some skills in sewing...

Janessa looks lovely!
