Hilltop Steak House

When my parents were visiting in October 2009, my dad was watching the Food Network one afternoon. They were highlighting three fabulous steak houses across the United States, and one of them just happened to be right here in Boston. Everyone said the prices were amazing and the steaks were enormous! My dad determined that we had to try this place, and we were more than happy to join him.

The Hilltop Steak House

This restaurant was located on the other side of Boston than the one we live on. I was dumbfounded to drive down Route 1 in Saugus and find a whole row of restaraunts that would NEVER make an appearance in Boston proper or on our side of Boston--like Hooters (can you imagine a Hooters in Boston?), cheesy tiki Polynesian places, giant Chinese restaurants housed in castle-like pagodas on the hill, more fast food places than the zoning board of Needham ever dreamed existed.

Part opportunity to dine out, and part costume party. Where else can you don your cowboy boots and western wear in Boston?

One of the best parts about going to a "Texas style steakhouse" in Boston is that when the serving staff come to take your order, you get the most authentic earthy Boston accent. Reminds you right away that this isn't Texas baby!

Janessa takes an opportunity to pose pretty much everywhere (you're only seeing a fraction of the pictures of her).

One of the most fun things about going to the Hilltop was having a reason to pull out our cowboy boots. When was the last time we wore those? My boot is the black one, James' is light brown, Janessa's is burgundy and J.B., not undaunted by the fact that he doesn't own cowboy boots was happy to don his snowboots.
