Another blog entry that never made it from the past:
February 2008
Short version of the story: Brigham went to China to work, and stayed for a long time. He found Emma, they got married, and they had a baby. After living in China for a few years, they decided to come to the U.S. to visit/try out a life here. Just weeks after flying to Utah, they flew to Boston and New York to see the family that lives on the East Coast. Only B.J. and Elizabeth had met Emma. The rest of us were excited to get to know them all.
We had so much fun with them!
We ate at Fuji Steak House, a Hibachi Japanese restaurant where every Japanese worker actually happened to be Chinese.
We went to a Chinese grocery in downtown Boston and drove through China town.
Brigham and Emma were able to reconnect with our "across the street" neighbors, Ted and Yan.
Brigham had met Ted and Yan when he was out here visiting (before marriage), and then when Yan traveled to China on business she took a care package from us to Brigham and Emma and spent an afternoon with them. Was that nice or what?
Emma also cooked several Chinese meals for us which were so good. We've tried to make a dish we named "pork babies" several times since she left, but we haven't been able to find the right amount or mix of ingredients.
One Emma phrase that I still use every time I cook with meat is, "All meat have stinky."
Emma LOVES to shop, so we took her to downtown Boston to get a shopping fix.
Emma had so much enthusiasm for everything.anotherr favorite Emma phrase was, "Wowee wow wow!"
We also did something we hadn't tried before; we went to the Christian Science Center and took the tour. It was really cool.

Our favorite part was this 30 foot, stained glass world globe that you could walk into. It was acoustically really funky. Your regular speaking voice would ricochet off of the inside of the globe, and someone standing all the way across from you could hear your regular speaking voice as if you were right next to them.
April had a lot of cousins to play with! One funny/interesting thing is that Lachlan was totally great with Brigham holding him, but if Emma even looked at him, he'd cry. Even if she sat within his eye view in the car--he'd cry just looking at her. Is that because Brigham looks like Lachlan's people and Emma doesn't? I'd probably cry if I looked at Brigham, but not Emma. She's much easier on the eyes.
After a wonderful time getting to know Emma, April, and enjoy Brigham, we sent them off to NYC on the train.
Postscript: Brigham and Emma seem to have settled into life in Utah, having a 2nd baby, and buying a house! Can't wait to see you again!

Evan is wearing those same overalls that Lachlan is wearing in the pics. It makes me want to go and cuddle him up!
