James took her to the mall the day before her birthday and made all of the requisite "stale dad jokes." (i.e. they'll be shooting an arrow from a crossbow to pierce her ears, or about the amount of blood on the floor and for her not to look or she'd pass out.)
James' final word on her twinkly studs--"They match your braces!"
