Every time I cook, and I mean EVERY TIME, Lachlan gets all of the bowls and all of the trays and racks out of the cupbaords. He dances on the racks; he turns the bowls over and drums on them with wooden spoons.

Messes in my life
As you know our house is undergoing a massive rennovation. My daily cleaning includes the removal of sawdust, wood chips, brick dust, cement dust, plaster dust, and just construction mess, mess, mess! Lachlan is taking clues from the construction project.

Every time I cook, and I mean EVERY TIME, Lachlan gets all of the bowls and all of the trays and racks out of the cupbaords. He dances on the racks; he turns the bowls over and drums on them with wooden spoons.
Meanwhile, I navigate the kitchen floor while cooking, as if it were a mine field. And, yes, every time I want to use one of these items I have to rewash it. I think that dancing on racks and sitting on bowls constitutes a good washing, don't you?

Someday--not very long from now--- your champion drummer and dancer will be off to school and too busy to hang around with you--then you will miss that dance through the minefield while cooking as well as his good company. What a delightful boy he is!
I'm going to forward you an "essay" my aunt wrote after her kids were all grown. Maybe I'll post it on my blog. Anyway, it fits your situation. I think a diaper clad bottom is as good as any slimy old dishrag to wash a bowl.
What a cute little guy. I can picture you dancing through the mine field while creating some culinary masterpiece - all with a huge smile on your face.
It's sometimes so infuriating the things we constantly "redo" as moms. Won't it be tragic when no one is making those little messes at our feet?
