That last post made me realize that I haven't posted anything about our old floors and our new floors.
This is the dining room floor. That lovely linoleum tile was in our dining room and entryway for the past 11 years that we've lived here, and obviously many more before that. I'm thinking it's circa 60's or 70's. Those were troubled times in my mind, otherwise why would someone choose to cover up fabulous WOOD floors like we found underneath this icky tile?

This is the old kitchen, now new dining room. The wood to the left is where the old kitchen cabinets used to live. As for the flooring, I'm remembering back to when we first moved to this house and had Logan. My mom came out to help with the baby and had hurt her back, so she decided the washing all of the floors in our house on her hands and knees would help her back feel better (What can I say?--she's a hard worker!) I still remember now, 11 years later what she said about this linoleum: "The closer you get to it, the less you're going to like it." I was not remorseful about removing it!

Our new kitchen is in J.B. and Logan's old bedroom, which already had wood floors. But this section, under the cabinets is where the old bathtub from the old bathroom lived. So, it will need some new wood.

There used to be a wall here, so we'll need some wood here as well.
This is what our dining room looked like before the floors were done. The wood was so sticky from the tile glue, post removal, that James covered it with plastic so that we wouldn't stick to it. The lumber for the new floors is on the right.
Here are our lovely Vietnamese floor guys! They were awesome, and they did a great job! They worked hard, fast, and gave us a great deal!
We had to move all of the furniture out of the main floor (kitchen, dining room, and bedrooms) into the living room.
Next to the door is part of the pile of stuff that would accompany us to our home away from home for the 6 days that we were out of the house. All 8 of us stayed with one of the kindest and most gracious families ever--the Lunds.
This picture is out of focus, but just wanted you to grasp the amount of work that went into moving all the furniture out and then back in again.

This is Janessa and Soren's old room. We are currently calling it Alan's room. It will someday be a laundry room and sewing/craft room. See how scuffed the floor is from moving the bed back and forth?

This is the old master bedroom which is currently J.B. and Logan's room. The floors will be refinished here too.
And now, the after pictures! The floors are done!
One anticipated feature of the new floors was their very slippery nature. Lots of sock skidding went on until we got the furniture put back away!
Yeah for new floors! Hooray! Hooray!
