Sabin Felch Childs, a boy from the 1850's

This is the Little Red Schoolhouse.

This is my son, J.B. a 3rd Grader

This is Sabin Felch Childs, a 12 year old from the 1850's. Sabin spent a day at the little red schoolhouse, practicing reading, writing, arithmetic, and elocution. He did math problems on slates, and got ink all over his hands, from the ink pot. They had a spelling bee, and did readings from their real 1850's books.

The teachers and students all dressed and acted the parts. Even their lunches that day had to be brought in baskets or tin pails and couldn't include any drink containers, plastic bags, or peanut butter.

This is a picture of a class from the 1850's. It's not J.B.'s (or Sabin's) class.
