These 12 turkeys were our constant companions for several weeks. They ate up all the grass seed, fertilized the lawn, and flew up to the playground in the backyard where they would often roost and spend pleasant evenings.
I've always wanted to see if I was capable of wringing a birds neck with my bare hands. I warned the turkeys that they were welcome to eat our grass seed now, but come Thanksgiving, they owed me one of their flock.
Is it any surprise that after living in our yard for so many weeks, they were very scarce around Thanksgiving. We had to buy a turkey after all. My neck wringing will have to wait for another year.

It's funny to see this picture now because earlier today I saw James' picture of mountains of snow in your yard. It's like it all suddenly melted away!
Oh Job and I loved those guys when we were staying with you! Of course, not so cute when they are eating your growing lawn I can imagine ;)
Eunice: I'm catching up on blog posts I started back in the summer and never posted. I need to put it under it's proper date heading.
Rachael: We love the turkeys too. At least I do. I believe that James might have been guilty of trying to scare them away once or twice, but I guess he gave up. I didn't mind them eating the lawn. It still came up just fine.
