J.B. turns 10

On July 29th, J.B. turned 10 at 4:04 in the morning.  He actually had made great plans for his birthday.  He printed out a computer page for me to manage the details of his friend party (when, how long, who to invite, what the activities would be).  He planned that his "family event" would be going to Kimball Farms.  And he also planned exactly what time of day he would be opening his presents (the morning, so that he'd have all day to play with his new toys).

So here we are gathered together in the morning, right after scripture study to watch J.B. open his presents.  Soren gave him a dollar and a lego creator set as well as a homemade card.

The only two things he wanted were this Harry Potter game...

and candy.

Lachlan gave him this Willy Wonka candy.

He spent the rest of the day building this lego set.

The final product was pretty cool.  It had drawbridges that raised and lowered, catapults that could shoot, and all kinds of other movable parts.

His dinner of choice was chocolate chip pancakes.  His dessert of choice was ice cream with toppings and whipped cream.  

Two of our family's birthday traditions include:  

• Watching the movie that James created of the first year of that child's life.  They are sweet video montages set to emotive music.  We love them.
• For birthday dinner, we go around the table and each share a favorite memory of the birthday child.
