The 24th of July in Boston

The 24th of July or as Utahans affectionately refer to it--Pioneer Day-- landed on a Saturday this year, and even though it isn't a holiday in Massachusetts, we still celebrated it in grand style.
It also happened to be the 88th birthday of one of our ward members, Maude Bentall, a.k.a. Candy Lady.  We gathered around this iconic figure of our ward for a photo.

We had a choice of dressing in pioneer clothing or red white and blue.  I'm the pink pioneer on the left, Lachlan and Soren are in tie-dyed shirts.

.
At the Bishop's request, James led the group in a Hip, hip huzzah

On the 3rd round of hip hip huzzah everyone shouted and threw their hats in the air.

This baby (Ella) was so disturbed by the Huzzahing that she just cried and cried.  And she was so cute, that we all kept laughing.  Even her mom was laughing and saying, "Take pictures of her crying."

After a lovely brunch, we went to the beginning of the parade route.  Maude is shown here, cutting the ribbon to start the parade.  She had specially requested that one Logan McQuivey push her in her wheelchair.

Here's a portion of the parade participants waiting for the go signal.

J.B. decorated his bike helmet as well.

Lachlan put a lot of miles on those little legs, around and around the parking lot.

Our friend Kim, pushed baby Dawson and pulled a covered wagon/skateboard.

Soren buzzed by on his decorated bike.

Ella had finally recovered from her fright.  Isn't she a cute little pioneer?
Lauren must have delivered sextuplets on the trail.  That's a lot of babies.  After this photo, Penny tries to take a baby off of Lauren's hands.

This is publish in Ensign stuff. What fun. Jansen spent "Days of 4 in Utah and he thought that it was so cool to have a huge parade and have it televised. He even enjoyed having the Friday before, the 23rd off from school at BYU.

Oh how I miss the ward! Sounds like a great time, and Eliza's baby is very cute.
