Lachlan looked like he was on top of the world, but he was really on top of a hay pyramid, getting ready to go on a fieldtrip for the perfect pumpkin.
This actually took place back on October 2nd, when Grandpa and Gramma Kelly were visiting us.
Gramma came along on the hayride with us. She liked meeting the rest of our ward playgroup/fieldtrip group. We filled two trailers; there were a lot of us there!
Our tour guide stopped at each field along the way and picked foods from the different fields so that we could see what they looked like while they were growing.

And here they are harvesting the broccoli.
Lachlan and I enjoyed the Indian corn, the gourds, the apples...we loved it all!
Finally we arrived at the pumpkin field. We quickly filled it with the many many moms and kids in search of pumpkins.
Lachlan latched on to this unusual pumpkin and couldn't be persuaded to consider anything else.

Aloha, I was just showing g'dad the post, and we both agreed that you do some really fun things there. We remember going with your playgroup to the maple syrup (farm)? Anyway, it was informative and smelled oh so good!
Thanks for posting that lovely memory! what fun times you have with your preschoolers and Moms group. You are lucky to live close to so many kinds of farms and still near a big city! And you get to participate in the best parts of farming without needing to deal with the tedious and back breaking parts--tho you do that in your garden at home.
Lachlan is such and adorable little guy!!
