First of all for her award at the Speech and Debate Meet: I'll have to quote the newspaper here, because I can't find this article in the on-line version.
Needham Speech and Debate rockets to success
Massachusetts Forensics League Novice Tournament
The record 20-strong Needham high novice Speech and Debate contingent had an examplary" day at the annual Massachusetts Forensics League Novice Tournament Oct. 10. The annual kick-off, hosted this year at Catholic Memorial is a celebratory event to usher in the new season. Winning awards in duo Interp were sophomore Srishti Goyal and Amanda Schultz; Lincoln-Douglas debate were ninth graders Steve Cromp, Erin Lipman, Abby Shneyder, and sophomore Ava Wong; Prose Reading were sophomore Rebecca Chen, Janessa McQuivey and Rachel Shmulevich along with ninth grader Maddi Freunlich, Extemporaneous Speaker junior Lauren Glenn; Congressional Debater Liz Hwang and Oratorical Performer Anjali Pal.
Debaters Annika Lee, Jodi Grosberg, Jack Longley and Ryan Zhang narrowly missed winning awards as did Dramatic Performer Goerge Chamoun and Congressional debaters Ashwin Skelly and Evan Keller. Seniors Rob Hurd and Aseem Mehta were highly effecient tournament majordomos, helping the tournament end ahead of schedule. Varsity members Colleen Creeden, Laura Furman, Cady Gallagher, Nathan Lintz, Sarah Macfadden, and Kaushik Vasudeean all judged and aided in tournament administration. Assistant coach Liz Stoker of Brandeis served as a "Liz of all trades" on the day. Coach Paul Wexler noted he was truly excited not only about the across-the-board recognition of the team, but also that nonaward-winning Needham students had universally received many kudos as well.
Secondly for her school play that she's in (note that she's not in the pictures, but if you watch the video with the article, you'll see her dancing on the right. She has bright blue pants on and a long-sleeved white t-shirt that says Facebook on it.)
They had to cancel their show's opening night last night because two of the leads were out with swine flu. Hopefully tonight and tomorrow's shows will go better!
And thirdly, the Times chose this photo that Janessa took to display in their Halloween photo online section:
Hooray Janessa! That's a lot of achievements for one week!
