The Pinewood Derby

We've been to a lot of pinewood derbys over the past years, but this is the first pinewood derby where James had to help make two cars.

Here is the racetrack cake that I made as part of the refreshments for the evening.

Logan's car looked like a computer mouse.

J.B. designed his car to look like a Wii remote.

We learned back in the days that Jansen was in scouting that boys are really competetive and that they feel bad when they don't win any of the heats. Since we haven't ever been able to build an amazingly fast winning car, we always encourage them to go creative--that way they won't have to worry about aerodynamics and they can always go for the "most creative" award. Both J.B. and Logan designed their cars themselves this year, and built most of them without help!

Logan got his Webelos badge, plus some belt loops, his Religious Knot, and 4 pins.

J.B. received two beads, and his Bobcat badge.

What blog entry would be complete without a picture of Lachlan? He was very sick the week of the pinewood derby, but he rallied enough to grab a few of the boys' cars at the end of the track and run them back to the beginning (much to the horror of the judges and scouts).
