J.B. does Hawaii

February was the United States Fair for the 3rd grade.

J.B. and his third grade cohorts sang This Land Is Your Land, My Country Tis of Thee, and The United States (in which they list every state! Whew!) They did some cute chants and cheers for each region of the U.S. and every child had a chance to tell an interesting fact about their state in the microphone before we moved into the cafeteria to see the dioramas.

J.B. drew Hawaii as his state to research. He did every bit of his diorama and research on his own.

J.B.'s state was part of the Pacific Region. He designed this Tri-Fold for his group. His state information is in the bottom left corner. The other states in the Pacific Region are: Alaska, California, Washington,(NOT D.C.) Oregon, "Hawaii."

Featured here, is Diamond Head (he even hand-made the playdough from Auntie Cherie's wonderful playdough recipe). Closer inspection of the diorama shows little people doing hilarious things all over the beach and water, like there is a house falling on one guy, and others getting eaten by sharks.
The plan was to have the volcano erupt at a climatic moment in the presentation.
J.B., you're so creative.  We loved seeing your zeal for learning about Hawaii!
