Temple Tending Day

Every year our Christmas present to the ward is that we offer a day of "temple tending." Parents can drop their kids off at our house to play and eat and they can go to the temple together.
This year's temple day landed on December 5th. We had 17 kids attend, plus the 8 of us plus a Young Woman to help out for a total of 26. Eight others cancelled for sickness. Here are some of the things we did:
We made Christmas bracelets.

We made Christmas cards.
We played Hullabaloo

We played with Duplos...
And Batman...
And we smiled...
And sang.

James and his groupies.
Amelia helps James on the guitar.
Caroline sings along.
We ate snacks and lunch.

And my favorite of all--we held babies, babies, babies!
Jansen and Amelia
Eliza and Nadia. Nadia is a Young Woman who came over to help.
Nadia and Thomas.
Thomas and Grace.
It was a great day! We love having our house full of kids!

What a sweet and kind gift--and what a fun adventure for those children--they are going to think the McQuivey house is better than any other place to be. It brought tears to my eyes to see those pictures of James playing the guitar while holding a baby!

Ah, to be in the Weston II ward again... That IS a great gift and I remember when we were there to participate. Your family is so wonderful. It was probably a lot less crowded with all the space you now have from the remodel. Everything looks fabulous.

I like that idea! Of ocurse we would probably drop our kid off and then go home and nap...or go to the temple and nap...hmmm, both sound nice.
