We got evicted - behind the scenes

Thursday was a fun day for me. I was in New York with one of my publishing clients, and had meetings and interviews scheduled through 6pm. Around 1pm I got a text message from Megan saying that the building inspector stopped by unexpectedly and saw a lot of code violations that made him mad. I checked my phone over the next few hours and had phone calls from our builder telling me they thought they could work it out and smooth over the issues. However, at 4pm, I got another text message saying that the building inspector had asked the power company to shut down the power to the house and ordered us to leave the home until the home could pass a full inspection.

To make a long story short, we moved to a hotel -- I spent the afternoon on the phone, instead of with my client, making arrangements and trying to get back on an earlier train. I was successful in changing to an earlier train, but the train broke down in Connecticut -- twice. So I ended up getting home after midnight -- later than my original train was supposed to arrive!

The whole day was a comedy of errors on so many levels, right down to all the things that were broken in our hotel room. Definitely a day to remember! Wish I had a picture to post, but I don't. Instead, I'll share with you a picture of an Amtrak train -- not moving, something my train also did for several hours on Thursday.
